SWIPED - protecting women’s rights using tech

Created in response to the resurgence of the global women’s march, the growing number of girls & women of color being kidnapped in the US and Caribbean and the disparity of women with leadership roles in tech companies; SWIPED is a conversation raising the question of the ability to utilize technology to prevent violence against girls and women while discovering those who are on the front lines developing tech tools in this emerging market. The intention is to raise awareness and create alternate use for big data already being used for marketing goods and services; to be freely made available for civic use and initiate opportunities for effective legislation to protect the rights of all impacted by the misuse of the same information.

Shot as a group discussion and a series of individual interviews, SWIPED will focus on leaders in the political, technology and civic communities, in a healthy dialogue about the impact violence perpetrated against girls and women has on their communities while sharing their experience, expertise and opinions. SWIPED, a finished one hour program and a featured segment of the 2017 Delirium Tech Conference, features a 30 minute group discussion with five to six 4 minute individual interviews for digital distribution throughout the US and the Caribbean.
