About Singularity: Singularity University (SU), a global community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges and build an abundant future for all, has announced a new partnership with Global Startup Ecosystem to launch a "SingularityU Global Impact Challenge” in Haiti for the Caribbean market.

Singularity University has hosted many successful “Global Impact Challenges” since 2010 in many countries all over the world. To date, Singularity University has hosted 94 Challenges in 38 countries awarding 121 winners.

The objective of these challenges is spur moonshot innovations to solve world’s greatest global challenges– energy, environment, food, shelter, space, water, disaster resilience, governance, health, learning, prosperity and security– by using exponential technology.

Who can apply: All natives of Caribbean islands and individuals based or connected to the Caribbean.

About The Prize:

The newly announced “SingularityU Caribbean Global Impact Challenge” will be open to all residents and citizens of the Caribbean. The winner of the Challenge will be selected on April 22, 2017 at the grand ceremony in Port au Prince, Haiti and awarded a prize to participate in the Singularity University Global Solutions Program (GSP) free of charge. Upon returning to any country in the Caribbean, the participant will have the opportunity to develop their innovative project, supported by the alumni network and mentors. Unsuccessful finalists will benefit by having access to a cadre of mentors and coaches who will follow them in the start-up phase of their project. The jury will consist of representatives from Singularity University, Global Startup Ecosystem, as well as senior representatives of the entrepreneurship, business or innovation community.

Who is the Sponsor Partner?

Global Startup Ecosystem provides digital programs for startup ecosystems and is the home of the largest digital online accelerator in 7 regions around the world including - the Caribbean, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The organization provides data insights and pipeline applications for regional programs such as accelerators, incubators, and startup event organizers.

Why Haiti?

Haiti's startup ecosystem is growing at an exponential rate and as such will play a huge part in driving innovation in the region. Haiti is to host the largest annual tech summit in Caribbean history on June 6-7, 2017 with 100 global speakers. The winner from this challenge will be able to present at this summit.
